History of Ferrol
|
The origins of Ferrol are in an old fishing town which during the XVIII century began to grow due to the shipyard being established here. Ferrol was for many years the maritime capital of the northwest of Spain , (now held by Cantabria). Nowadays, the city centre is formed by "El Barrio de la Magdalena", named historical and artistic collection in 1983 for its unique geometrical shape and for the beauty of its houses. It is precisely here where the I.A. is located, near an important network of establishments and services, (banks, chemists, shopping centres, libraries, cafés, restaurants...). The train and coach station are also at walking distance from the I.A., and the airports of A Coruña and Santiago are half an hour from the city. |
